Hello everyone!

My name is Robert “Bob” McConnelly, and I’d like to welcome you to my humble corner of the internet. I’ve spent the better part of three decades immersed in the fascinating world of tobacco, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share my journey with you.

I began my career with the British American Tobacco company, where I climbed the ranks from a humble leaf buyer to the head of Quality Assurance. After ten fruitful years, I took my expertise to Philip Morris International, where I served as Director of Product Development. My accomplishments there included overseeing the successful launch of several new product lines and the implementation of new tobacco curing methods that significantly increased product quality.

Along my journey, I’ve been recognized by industry peers and received awards such as the prestigious Golden Leaf Award for my contributions to sustainable farming practices in 2018 and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum in 2021.

I now reside in the beautiful countryside of Surrey, England, where the rolling hills and lush landscapes provide daily inspiration. It’s a peaceful existence, one that allows me to reflect on the industry I’ve devoted my life to.

Despite my professional accomplishments, I believe life should be balanced. Outside of the tobacco world, I’m an avid cyclist and a member of the local club. The camaraderie and the fresh country air keep me feeling young and energetic. When I’m not on the road, I enjoy tending to my vegetable garden. It’s a different kind of cultivation, but equally rewarding.

I’m also a fervent reader, with a particular interest in historical fiction. If you ever want to swap book recommendations, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Speaking of which, I welcome any and all inquiries or comments. You can reach me on my phone at +44-208-193-4387. Alternatively, send an email to mailto:[email protected].
I’m also active on Facebook under the handle @BobMcConnellyTobaccoExpert and on Twitter at @TobaccoBob. Don’t be a stranger!

I’m looking forward to sharing more insights and experiences from my life in the tobacco industry and beyond. Here’s to a fruitful exchange of thoughts, ideas, and good cheer. Onward and upward!

All the best,
Bob
